My name is Monica, I am a nutritionist and food lover and I decided to share this journey with all of you, to show you that eating healthy can be easy, fun and most of all affordable for everyone. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your one-way ticket and come aboard with me!
Here I am, after months and months of thinking about it – Will it be worth it? Will I have the time? Will somebody actually read it? – my blog is up and running and I couldn’t be happier to share this journey with you!
It all started when I was diagnosed with coeliac disease back in 2014 and my whole diet had to change. I found myself struggling with finding tasty food I could have, snacks, cakes and all the baked goods I had been relying on my whole life. But most of all, I often found myself with little money left after buying those expensive gluten-free alternatives. It took a while for me to get used to a completely new lifestyle, going out with friends and finding myself eating a salad while they were devouring an amazing pizza right in front of me, or saying “NO” everytime you were offered food at parties or other people’s houses, or checking constantly where your food was being prepared to make sure it wasn’t being contaminated. In other words, a total nightmare! But I like to see the positive in all of this, which is, I wouldn’t be here writing and sharing all of my upcoming posts with you and I probably would have had a sugar and cake overdose by now, if I was still following my old diet. So, I’m glad I had to change my lifestyle and go the healthier way. And this is why I want to share this journey with you.
One-Way to Health was created to increase awareness on how to eat healthy and feed you and your family without breaking the bank.
Why eating healthy?
Eating healthy shouldn’t be a quick fix to lose a few pounds and get back in your old jeans, it should be a lifestyle, YOUR lifestyle! I don’t believe in drastic changes of diet, or cutting out important nutrients because it’s the fad of the moment. I believe in balance, I believe you need to find what your body really needs and feels comfortable with and stick with it. That’s what I want to help you achieve. I believe you need to have a basic knowledge of how nutrition works and the impact that food has on your body, only then you will be able to make your own choices and choose the lifestyle more appropriate to your needs. I want to help you building a stronger and happier you and I truly belive that nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are the base for it. There are many conditions that can be prevented or even treated just by eating the right foods and that doesn’t mean giving up all the taste. Eating healthy can help stabilizing your mood, feeling happier, give you better skin, hair, nails, give you the body you have always wanted and most of all it will boost your confidence and you will learn to love yourself no matter what shape or size you are.
How can One-Way to Health help me?
Every week I will be posting a budget-friendly healthy recipe and I will be writing about basic nutrition key facts, I will give you tips on how to save on your weekly shopping and how to optimize time and find the perfect balance between a healthy and busy lifestyle. I will introduce you to the benefits of eating many everyday healthy foods and I will occasionally post not-so-healthy recipes, because finding a balance means not depriving yourself and there is nothing wrong in having the occasional treat.
All of my recipes are gluten free, but can be adapted to suit your dietary needs. I will specify when a recipe is free from certain allergens and tell you when ingredients can be substituted, as I want as many of you as possible to be able to try these recipes.
